Things To Do

Texas A&M is the largest public university (by enrollment) in the nation and both Josey and Josh are “Aggies” – graduates of Texas A&M University. The Texas A&M campus is beautiful and you’ll enjoy seeing it full-bloom. There are several ways to tour campus, that you can find on their website. University center garage is the best parking if you are visiting somewhere on campus.

Memorial Student Center (MSC)

275 Joe Routt Boulevard, College Station, TX 77843

(Cross Joe Routt Blvd, the street on the north side of the garage) which houses two galleries, dining facilities, and the TAMU Bookstore.

Kyle Field

756 Houston Street, College Station, TX 77843

Football Stadium, where, on Saturdays in the fall, the Texas Aggies either win or run out of time. Take a minute to look at the Twelfth Man Statue on the east side and Reveilles’ Graves on the north side of the field. Kyle Field is on Houston Street, just west of the garage.

Sanders Corps of Cadets Center (SCCT)

1400 Coke Street, College Station, TX 77843

(open Monday-Friday, 8-5). Visit the museum to learn about Texas A&M University’s Corps of Cadets, which was a large part of Josh’s experience at Texas A&M. You can also walk through the “Quad” where Cadets live, eat, and have military activities.

George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum

1000 George Bush Drive West, College Station, TX 77845

Basically, this is our tourist attraction. And it’s a good one! The museum has permanent exhibits and special, touring exhibits. The grounds around the museum are beautiful and you can easily walk to the cemetery where President Bush, his wife Barbara, and their daughter are buried. The best way to find current exhibit and program information is through their website. The museum is open Monday-Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. There is an admission charge. If you are thinking of going, check out the admission information because discounted rates are available for seniors, Veterans, and others.

Century Square

175 Century Square Drive, College Station, TX 77840

Restaurants, shops, and a fun outdoor play area are all available at Century Square. This walkable area also has a movie theater (Star Cinema Grill) and hotel.

Downtown Bryan

Bryan, TX 77803

Since College Station doesn’t have one, we rely on Bryan’s downtown area. This historic downtown has a good variety of local restaurants, from Tex-Mex, to upscale. The Queen Theater shows current and classic films, Blackwater Draw features local brews, and Downtown Elixer is a nice cocktail bar with great indoor and outdoor seating.

Wildflyer Mead Company

16481 County Road 319, Navasota, TX 77868

A favorite of Josh and Josey, this meadery uses honey from various bee hives to make their mead.

Northgate

College Station, TX 77840

Northgate is the student entertainment area across from campus on the north side. Several popular bars and eateries are located in a couple of blocks along University Drive. Street parking is available behind Northgate but your best bet is the College Main Parking Garage, located at 309 College Main Ave. If you are only going to visit College Station once in your life, you really must go to The Dixie Chicken. Have a cold beer, see the snakes, and then go next door and check-out the famous Bottle Cap Alley. Now you’ve seen it all…

Aggie Park

College Station, TX 77840

Aggie Park is a new addition to campus and it’s where Josh proposed to Josey. You can enjoy beautiful scenery, fish in the lake, and taste our famous Blue Bell Ice Cream. Aggie Park is south and east of the garage.

Knox Wine Bar

405 University Drive East, College Station, TX 77840

Museum of the American GI

19124 Highway 6, College Station, TX 77845
