Our story

Fall of 2017..

Joshua and I met at work.. I know right, a construction job. I guess stranger things have happened. I didn’t see his face at first, it was extremely cold so he wore a ski mask for the first couple of weeks. I only heard his voice, and this man wasn’t so nice.. or so I thought. He had the work mode going on. On one of our breaks, I heard this guy talking.. I knew the voice.. when I turned to see where it was coming from I saw his face. I thought he was absolutely the most beautiful man I had ever laid eyes on. (Call it cheesy, I don’t care) Fast forward a little bit, our first kiss. I think that’s what did it. Nervous would be an understatement, but after that I knew I couldn’t be without him. You can even ask him.. its almost as if we both were thinking.. “where have you been all this time?” Shortly after seeing each other he met Hunter, my first love. Hunter took an attachment right off the bat, I remember telling him if he had no intention of sticking around, not to get close to my son. I don’t think there was any doubt that he would be around, at least for awhile anyway. I eventually met his children, Brooklyn and Shaun. I love that each one of our children is special and different in their own way, but they grew close. Fast. It took some adjusting, especially after we ended up moving in together.. but it wasn’t long and we became a family. Something I knew I always wanted. We may have done things a little nontraditional, or backwards as some may say, but its our story and it just so happens to be my favorite. It’s been a tough year and then some.. but I wouldn’t want to walk through hell or high water with anyone else. Im not sure if there such a thing as soulmates, or that theres a person for everyone.. but he is definetly my person.

The proposal!

June 23, 2018

We decided to take a late night boat ride. Probably 20 minute boat ride up river from our houseboat. We took music.. wore swim suits.. built a fire.. the whole 9 yards. He convinced me to swim with him.. now im already hesitant but even more at night! Its dark.. I can hardly see.. theres living creatures in this water! LIVING. But i agreed, and went night swimming. For some reason the night was just right.. he claims he got down on one knee (i wouldnt know as i couldnt see since he was in the water) He asked me to marry him, and i had no doubt it was an instant yes. Now he didnt have a ring, that came a few months later.. where he asked me again. One time was already enough, but the second time was just as great.
