Y'all ready to party?

Alyson had newly moved to Austin and was partying her way through her first SXSW with her BFF Adrienne. On March 14, she crashed Adrienne's Bumble date at a South By party for The Onion at Barracuda. Josh happened to be the producer of the party and he was running around in a frenzy when he noticed Alyson standing alone. They locked eyes. Josh strode towards her and said “you’re a knockout” (a word he didn’t know was in his lexicon until that very moment.) They flirted over a shared bag of Goldfish crackers from the greenroom. Josh smashed them in Alyson’s hand, Alyson smashed them in Josh’s shirt pocket, and the rest is history.

Josh and Alyson left their new puppy, Holiday Party, with a babysitter for the very first time headed to Justine’s for dinner with friends. In the Uber Josh produced a blindfold from his pocket and said “put this on”. They ended up on the rooftop of the Corazon apartments - the place they fell in love during SXSW the first year they met. Over a bottle of Campfire, the same whiskey they had shared that night they fell in love, Josh asked Alyson to marry him. She said yes, everybody cried, it was perfect.

COVID really fucked things up for Josh and Alyson’s wedding plans. After rescheduling the wedding multiple times they made the decision, tipsy during Christmas, to elope. A few months later the Thorpe crew, 12 in total, flew out to Texas and Joined forces with the Haswells at Lake Buchanan. Father of the bride, Keith, became an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church and married Josh and Alyson on the lakeside lawn behind their family home. Everybody cried, it was perfect.
