If you're doing Airbnb, etc:
We like the east side of town better - if you're going to stay on the east side, we recommend staying between the Willamette River and 60th Ave. 

We do not recommend staying near the venue (Leach Botanical Garden) - this area is not walkable and it's far from most of Portland's best attractions. 

If you do want to stay on the west side of town (which is more urban), we recommend staying in the Pearl District or Nob Hill neighborhood and avoiding Old Town / Chinatown / Downtown.
