Josh met me back in 2011 at a middle school track meet. However, the real meeting didn't happen for another five years. Over those five years, we ran into each other periodically and always said hello to each other. On July 4th, 2016, Josh walked up to me at the beach and said hi but then left. Later that night he messaged me on Instagram, responding to a post I had made about that day at the beach. I responded to his message one week later and we went on our first date to that very same beach one week later.
Josh took a bike trip up M22 in Spring of 2021. Shortly after he completed this trip, he drove me along the same route he rode and we stopped at all of the small towns off of M22. Our favorite town out of all them was a small fishing town called Leeland or "Fishtown." Exactly one year later Josh took me on the same trip up M22 with his parents, claiming the purpose of the trip was to show his parents his biking route from the year prior. We started this trip the same way, stopping at all of the small towns. The trip was supposed to end in Fishtown where we would eat dinner at The Cove restaurant which overlooks the water. There is a hidden beach at Fishtown that Josh and I found the year prior when we went, so we visited it again this year. This is where Josh planned on proposing but when walking out onto the beach a bug hatching recently occurred and there were swarms of bugs everywhere. On top of that, the tide had gone back and there was a thick row of dead fish going all down the middle of the beach. So I walked off the beach too grossed out to stay out there. But in order to get to the beach there is a tunnel of trees with high sand bars on each side that you walk through. When walking back through this area, Josh stopped us for a photo and proposed right there. My parents ran out and surprised me afterwards with them hiding in the trees trying to watch it before hand.
