Joseph and Lexie met one night in Northern Arizona at a college retreat through their church. It was their freshman year at GCU, and Joe was eager to find himself his future wife. Lexie, content in her singleness, was just excited to make some new friends. Joe and Lexie ended up walking circles around the camp, talking about everything under the sun that night. They quickly became close friends and started hanging out in the same friend group almost every day. At this point, Joe was smitten and told Lexie his feelings for her. Lexie was unsure. She worried about ruining the awesome friendship that they had but also worried that she would miss out on being with such an amazing man. Joe was very patient with Lexie, and they had some heart-to-hearts before that school year ended. A few weeks into summer break, their friend group took an exciting trip to Hawaii. It only took one of the most romantic destinations in the world, but at last, it was there that Lexie saw Joe in a different light and realized that she also wanted to be more than friends. Over the next few months, Joe and Lexie spent the summer working at different camps in different states. They would call regularly, talking on the phone for as long as they could. When the school year came around and they returned to GCU, Joe asked Lexie out and they finally made it official. Through countless laughs, adventures, car jams, dates, and deep conversations, their relationship deepened. Most importantly, their shared love for Jesus and their amazing community of friends and family kept them grounded in their faith through it all. After more than two and a half years, Joe did what he had a funny feeling he would do all along, he bought a ring. On April 29th, 2022, he proposed to Lexie at sunset on a mountainside cliff overlooking a beautiful valley below. Lexie and Joe have enjoyed their engagement so far, and amidst the craziness of wedding planning are eager and excited to get married!
