Mexico City has it all - great food, attractions, very old, old and new history (think Aztecs, Spanish colony and Frida) and we both have fallen in love with the city for that same reason. Our friends and family are all dispersed across the United States, Mexico and the world, so Mexico City is a perfect, accessible and affordable location for us to to showcase our culture, let you experience all the great things Mexico has (besides beaches), and, of course, have fun!

Yes, overall Mexico City is relatively safe vs other cities in Mexico. However, we do recommend taking precautions: be mindful of your surroundings, avoid walking alone/standing out, don’t flash around money and leave expensive jewelry and watches at home.
We highly recommend using uber or similar services. Fares tend to be economical vs typical fares in the U.S. and it's easy to track the right prices/driver info/right route and no need to speak Spanish. Recomendamos usar uber o servicios similares.
Most businesses take credit cards/debit cards. For informal business - you do need Mexican pesos and highly recommend exchanging some cash at the CDMX Airport.
It's customary to tip 10-15% at restaurants. Do note that for events with waiters and waitresses (like ours), the staff does expect to be tipped according to the service they provide - and they will try really hard to make you like them :) Tip at your discretion.
Yes, and please note that the expiration date must be at least six months out to use it! Do note that a negative Covid exam is also required to go back to the United States - these are available at many pharmacies or at the airport and can take as little as 15 minutes to get the result.
We highly recommend drinking bottled water as the water may not be purified. Do note that legally every restaurant and hotel must serve filtered water and ice, so you don’t have to worry about cocktails. As for food, please eat away! but be aware that a lot of the food may be spicy and that might not be washed with clean water. Raw vegetables and fruit should be properly cleaned in restaurants but do be careful with raw street food. Here's an article with more info, if you like: https://www.tripsavvy.com/how-to-avoid-montezumas-revenge-1588842 Recomendamos tomar agua embotellada.
While knowing key phrases in Spanish is helpful, it isn’t necessary to speak Spanish in order to get around. Many of the people who live and work in the city speak English, especially around tourist attractions. Regardless, we recommend taking the opportunity to practice key phrases, people always appreciate when you try to speak the language!
Do note that Mexico City has an altitude of over 7000 ft (2000 ft higher than Denver!) so the city can be "cold" and you may experience some altitude sickness (drink a lot of water!). October is the end of rainy season, so do bring an umbrella just in case!
