How We Met

April 15, 2014

We met while in college at the University of Hartford. At the time we were both in relationships and didn't think much of each other when introduced, other than them being pretty cute. But be it fate or luck, we happened to both become available around the same time. We started to notice each other around campus more. He began to hang out at The Guild, a gaming club I attended, and I started to visit the commuter's lounge where he often was. Neither of us were particularly looking for a new relationship yet, but were quickly becoming friends. The turning point of our relationship was at our school's annual Rocky Horror Picture Show performance. I was a time warper again that year, and badgering all of my friends to come to see the show and let me sit on their laps when my legs inevitably got too tired from dancing around in ridiculously high heels. And of course, I was especially hoping that the cute boy with the gorgeous hair would come too. When he arrived to see me all dolled up for the show, he was floored and immediately began to pursue me. We quickly became inseparable, and after only a week of heavy flirtation, it was official.

The Proposal

July 22, 2019

We were on a trip to Japan, somewhere I'd dreamed of going all my life. Jordan had packed the ring in advance and almost had a heart attack when I went to look for something random in his bag, but luckily I didn't see it. It was our very last night, and it had been raining all day so we decided to call it early and escaped back to where we were staying at the Hotel Hankyu International in Osaka. Once we got to our room, the sky suddenly cleared and the rain trickled to a stop. The sun began to set over the Yodo River and reflect off of the lingering mist, causing the whole city to glitter and shine. Time seemed to stop as he held me in his arms and we watched the sun sink further into the horizon. Suddenly, he told me to keep watching the sunset while he went to "get something". Immediately I knew he was about to propose, and trembled with anticipation as I tried to contain my excitement. Finally, I turned around and there he was, my future husband waiting on one knee.
