How We Met

9.3.18

We always joke and say that the way we met and fell in love was sillier than we are! It was right out of a romance novel or a rom-com movie! We were introduced through a mutual friend who took us out on a "blind lunch." After joking around together at a little coffee shop and touring a local museum where we lived in Florida, I decided I wanted to know him more. We planned for our first date and, well... it went spectacularly wrong! First, the bookshop we had wanted to go to was closed, but we ended up finding the art studio I used to take classes. We found my picture on the wall and ended up sharing our favorite memories of summers during our childhoods. Then we went to the food truck rally event, but it was running behind, so we decided to kill time and I taught him my favorite card game and he taught me his. After we tried a bunch of fun food, we went to the lake next to the event and rented a swan boat. We paddled to the far side of the lake and took a selfie, but when we started moving again, my phone fell right into the lake! Without thinking, I threw off my life jacket and shoes and dove in after it, Nathan screaming after me. He had thought that he had said something to make me run! In the end, I did not get my phone. Nathan had to sign a form as my guardian since I was still 17 and he was 18 and then I ended up taking him home and meeting his whole family ... sopping wet!

The Proposal

9.3.22

On our 4 year anniversary, Nathan planned out a hiking adventure for us. It started with us driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway, allowing us to stop and view the beautiful mountainous overlooks and take some photos. We jammed out to our favorite songs and joked around until we reached our destination: Apple Orchard Falls! We hiked all the way to the bottom of the mountain to the waterfall. It was a beautiful, tall fall surrounded by stones covered in moss. We put on some music and danced at the base of the falls and then we stood there enjoying the views, or so I thought. It turned out I was the only one watching the falls because when I turned around Nathan was on his knee with tears in his eyes. He asked me to make him the happiest man alive by continuing to goof off together for the rest of our lives. Can you guess what I said? As soon as we were both done crying, I ran to where we had placed our hiking gear and pulled out a surprise of my own. I opened the small box before him that held his ring and asked him to be my partner in crazy until the very end. He said yes ... surprise! We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you! See you in the mountians!
