Getting to Chicago

There are several options for your travel to Chicago! There are two major airports - O'Hare (ORD) and Midway (MDW). Both airports have train service into the downtown area. More detail on navigating the CTA options at each airport are below. If you are a Southwest loyalist, you will probably have better luck finding flights into Midway. We are big proponents of using the CTA system on your trip to the city - it is very easy to use Google Maps to see routes / train times and you can tap your physical credit card or your phone's mobile wallet to pay your fare! No need to download any special app or load a pre-paid card. Our wedding will be held in the West Loop area of Chicago. Feel free to use our hotel block options provided, but really any hotel or Airbnb will work for our wedding weekend!

Travel Note

Other Lodging Options

While there are plenty of excellent hotel options relatively close by in West Loop and River North, if you're looking for a more residential experience, Airbnb options in Logan Square, Wicker Park, and Bucktown neighborhoods could be worth considering. These neighborhoods are right off the Blue Line for easy train access to / from O'Hare Airport, and are a quick ~10 minute drive from The Carter

Flight

O'Hare International Airport (ORD)

O'Hare is a great option for anyone traveling with United or American. Arrivals on these airlines conveniently drop you off within walking distance of the CTA Blue Line train station. You can use your mobile wallet / Apple Pay to board the trains in Chicago and ride from the airport to downtown for only $5. When you ride past the Western stop, you are on Jordan and Leo's block! Delta flights often arrive at the International terminal at O'Hare (Terminal 5). From this terminal, your options are either to take a taxi, an Uber Black (no regular uber/lyft), or ride the air tram back to the domestic terminals. It can be annoying to arrive in the international terminal, but obviously not impossible to overcome these challenges. Rental cars at O'Hare also require taking the air tram to an offsite location. You probably don't need a rental car for your trip to the city!

Flight

Midway International Airport (MDW)

Leo loves Midway airport. It's a little bit crappier than O'Hare (Jordan would say it's a lot crappier), but you will almost always have a shorter taxi upon arrival and a less crowded airport experience! Chicago's Orange Line train is easily accessible from Midway airport. The Orange Line runs to The Loop, and from The Loop you can connect to other trains if you need to reach a more residential area.
