How it started…

College days

Jozilyn first saw Jordan at GVSU in a Spanish Club meeting during their freshman year in 2014. Jordan first noticed Jozilyn in their Child Development class 2 years later. Yet it wasn’t until their senior year in 2018 in a Spanish Methods class that they truly became acquainted. As they do best, they talked in English and of course in Spanish for the entire semester as class partners. On the day of the final, seconds before papers are passed out and all phones are away, Jozilyn asks Jordan if she wants her number to stay in contact. Jordan responds with “I guess”. Jozilyn took out her red felt pen and wrote her number on Jordan’s right arm. And that’s all she wrote.

Jordan’s Proposal

15.05.2020

It was the heart of quarantine after 2 years of dating. Jordan was stressed, per usual, but had asked Jozilyn to leave their pandemic quarters in Benzie county to return to their own apartment for the weekend. Jozilyn was on day 3 with no shower and wanted tacos as they exited the freeway but Jordan insisted that there was no time- this confused Jozilyn but she went with it. They then drive by Richmond Park, their favorite park in GR, and Jordan asked “Want to go for a walk?”. Jozilyn wondered about the tacos but then again is always looking to encourage Jordan’s spontaneity and does love walks so she said yes. They park and begin their hike. As they approached the best spot in town, Jozilyn notices a picnic set up and said “Oh no we got to go, someone is going to propose!”. She turned around as Jordan said “It’s me” reaching for her bag. Jozilyn then saw the hot cheetos, the OCP and Jordan on one knee and realized what was happening- and began to cry. Jordan asked Jozilyn to spend the rest of their lives together. With Baby by her side, at her favorite place in GR, and the love of her life in front of her, Jozilyn said yes.

Jozilyn’s Proposal

14.02.2022

It was Valentine's Day - 2022. Jozilyn planned for them to go to drinks downtown, but their favorite cocktail bar was closed (apparently it's closed on Monday's). This prompted Jozilyn to ask Jordan the second best question of the evening: do you want pizza? Jordan was elated by the proposal and couldn't imagine the evening getting any better. They went into The Mitten, drank root beers, ate pizza and paid their bill. Jordan was pumped by how great their fourth Valentine's together had gone... Jozilyn knew there was so much more in store for them. She asked Jordan if she wanted to go walk around downtown and find some of the "winter GR" structures. They drove around for 20 minutes struggling to find the bridge they wanted. Eventually finding it, they park and venture out into the brutal Michigan winter. Jordan quickly became enraged by the number of people around her. She, in her opinion, was being respectful and allowing them to take their pictures and have their space, but felt the respect was not being returned. Jozilyn was attempting to get down on one knee and propose to the love of her life, but found it difficult to do because of the people and the attitude Jordan was emitting. As they continued on their walk around GR, Jozilyn and Jordan talked about favorite memories together and what they are excited about for the future. It was romantic, it showed the both of them just how much spark they have, and just how happy they are to be with one another.. They approached a blue-lit tunnel and Jozilyn set up her phone for a picture. Jordan posed and began to smile not realizing that a video was being recorded instead of a picture being taken. She turned to see Jozilyn getting down on one knee. Jozilyn proceeded to say "As you know, I'm a woman of many words, but I can't do that right now..." She then asked Jordan the BEST question of the night: will you marry me? Jordan was emotional, happy, and very cold. It was an easier question to answer than she thought imaginable (as she said yes to pizza earlier in the evening and that was also a very easy.. yes) After becoming proposed, Jordan shoved her ring in Jozilyn's face every moment imaginable and continues to do this to this day. She is lucky and she knows it..
