Mary and Jon first met at a fundraiser for Heart Math Tutoring, a local non-profit that provides one-on-one tutoring to high needs elementary students. Jon has been a tutor for several years and Mary a first-grade teacher at a title I school. As fate would have it, their mutual friends… let’s call them Kayla and Charlie…had recently met via a popular dating app and after several promising dates decided to go their separate ways. In an effort to de-rail an awkward run-in with Charlie, Kayla quickly introduced her friend Mary to Charlie’s friend Jon. After a few minutes of chatting, Jon offered to buy Mary a drink (probably because it was an open bar). They quickly discovered other mutual friends, hit it off…and the rest is history.
