Courtney and Jonathan were both in a Survey of Theatre course at TCU their freshmen year, which required every student in the 130 person class to present a random, one page story throughout the semester. On this random day, it was Jonathan's turn to present, and the professor chose to have everyone sit on the floor around the perimeter of the room, allowing Jonathan to choose where to face. As he went up to present and choose which way to face, Courtney for some reason waved her arms, hollered, and he faced her! That was that. Until later that night, when their paths crossed again at a freshmen greek date night. Jonathan immediately noticed Courtney from class earlier in the day and struck up a conversation about his story he told in class. The two talked all night until he had to leave to be a good citizen and be a safe ride. Courtney woke up the next morning to a message on GroupMe from Jonathan, giving her his name and number. Unbeknownst to Courtney, as she sat down for her Environmental Science 8 A.M. class, Jonathan was sitting in front of her. She tried to hide from the boy she met the night before, but Jonathan was persistent and waited for her outside of class....the rest is history!
While Courtney was in Arizona visiting Jonathan, he surprised her with a getaway at the beautiful Hermosa Inn in Paradise Valley. They checked into their room and got ready for a fancy dinner at the hotel. While walking from their room to the restaurant, Jonathan grabbed Courtney's hand under a beautiful arch of bougainvillea's, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him! Hiding in the bushes was a photographer that caught the special moment and the celebration after. A year later, we went back to the same hotel to celebrate our one year proposal anniversary, and have agreed to make it a tradition every year!
