The closest airports are in Burlington, Plattsburgh, and Albany. Buses, shuttles, and rentals are available from each. There’s also a small airport in Saranac Lake, but idk how to get a flight there. More power to you if you can figure it out.

Amtrak has trains that run from NY Penn Station to Montreal. Again, buses, shuttles, and rentals are available from many locations.
–
From the city, take the thruway N until route 73 towards Keene. From Plattsburgh or Montreal, take the thruway S until 9N. Then take 86 towards Wilmington
–
There are also buses from NY and Boston to LP. Some are direct, and some connect through Albany.

The greater ADK region also has a lot to offer. Try googling Ausable Chasms, Lake Champlain, Lake George, Birding in ADK… the likes. Montreal is also lovely in the summer and only a 2hr drive north. If you’re driving up from the mid-Atlantic or NY, as the Libres usually do, there are a number of fun things that you should see to break up your trip: > Reserve a timeslot at Storm King Art Center. It’s a fabulous sculpture garden near where Jon grew up. > If you’re driving from the south and you pass Keene, NY, we highly recommend picking up a pie at the Noon Mark Diner. > Pick up a frosty at the Wendy’s @ the famous Chesapeake House. If coming from Boston like the O’Neill’s, you can check out ye olde college towns of Hanover and Middlebury.
