Travel

Transportation information and lodging options for our out-of-towners are below. This is not an exhaustive list by any means. The San Jose airport has many lodging areas. These are just options that we have either used in the past, have been recommended to us, or lodging options we've come across because of our proximity to them. Other potential and convenient options for lodging would be located between San Francisco and San Jose.

Train

Caltrain

The Caltrain (similar to Chicago Metra) takes you all the way up to San Francisco and down to San Jose (SJ). Diridon Station is the closest one to Jamie & Jona in SJ. The Caltrain makes stop all along beautiful Bay Area cities including Down Mountain View and Downtown Palo Alto. If you hop on Sunday towards SF, make sure to check out the Mountain View Farmer's Market (9am-1pm) located right off the Caltrain Mountain View Station. Also note that San Jose and San Francisco have rentable scooters which also make getting to and from place easier too; including getting to public transportations stations.

Hotel

Element San Jose Airport

1130 Wondo Way, San Jose, CA 95110

This is a cute and relatively new hotel in the area. It's super close to the San Jose airport, and next to the San Jose soccer team's stadium. It's a quick drive from a shopping center (Target, Blaze, Trader Joes, etc.) and a few blocks from the Santa Clara Caltrain Station. Approximately a 12 minute drive from the main event location.

Hotel

The Westin San Jose

302 South Market Street, San Jose, CA 95113

Located a few blocks from the main event, this hotel is located in the heart of urban Downtown San Jose. This is Jamie & Jona's neighborhood. Local favorites include Nirvana Soul Cafe, San Pedro Square Market (for food and drinks), Pastelaria Adega, Con Azucar Cafe, and Philz Coffee. Approximately an 8 minute walk from the main event location.

Hotel

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Campbell - Pruneyard Plaza

1995 South Bascom Avenue, Campbell, CA 95008

Located in the Pruneyard Plaza, this location is surrounded by Jamie & Jona favorites such as Mendocino Farms, Starbird, Luna Mexican Kitchen, Philz Coffee and downtown Campbell Farmer's Market (9am - 1pm every Sunday year-round). There's also Campbell Park which has baseball courts, a playground, picnic area, and is next to Los Gatos Creek trail (perfect for a short little walk next to a creek). Approximately a 15 minute drive from the main event location.

Hotel

The Ameswell Hotel

800 Moffett Boulevard, Mountain View, CA 94043

This hotel is in Mountain View. Mountain View is home of Shoreline Amphitheatre (similar to Illinois' Ravinia Festival) and a Jamie and Jona favorite, "Shoreline at Mountain View" regional park. You can visit the cafe here, walk along the lake, fly a kite, rent a bike or a kayak, or take a easy walk -- you might even spot an egret, blue heron, or other small wildlife. Mountain View is also home to Google HQ. They have small indoor/outdoor visitors center, shop, and cafe at the Gradient Canopy -- walk around to enjoy the experience and stop in for lunch or a pastry. Approximately a 17-25 minute drive from the main event location.

House Or Rental

Airbnb HQ

888 Brannan Street, San Francisco, CA 94103

Did you know Airbnb HQ is in San Francisco? But don't try to visit HQ though because they don't have a visitor's center, however, you may want to consider booking a place through Airbnb. Stay nearby or expand out to explore the surrounding Bay Area. The Bay Area is full of beautiful lodging options -- from beach stays in places like Pacifica, Half Moon Bay, or Sausalito, to forest retreats stays in Santa Cruz, or big city vibes in San Francisco. For beautiful places to stay with a "small town" vibe in or around San Jose consider San Jose neighborhoods like Willow Glen or Campbell. Note that places in San Jose and Santa Clara (also close to the main event) will likely have a suburban feel even though San Jose is a city. And if you hear locals say "the city," they're likely referring to San Francisco even though the Bay Area is full of other cities including San Jose FYI. Other nearby wonderful options for staying are cities and towns like Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Los Gatos and Palo Alto -- all have their own downtown areas.

For all the days along the way
