As many of you know, Thais was an ICU nurse at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital and Johnson was an internal medicine resident. During his rotation in the intensive care unit, Johnson would always find an excuse to talk to Thais-- whether it was asking if he could place a Foley catheter for her, start an IV, or ask her to proof read a poster. After Johnson's three week rotation in the intensive care unit was finished, he sent Thais a Facebook message asking to hang out sometime. Thais took him up on this offer and invited him to watch the Nashville Predators playoff game at Double Dogs in Sylvan Park. And the rest, they say, is history.

Thais took a COVID-19 ICU crisis assignment in St. Louis in January 2021. After a particularly difficult shift, Thais walked into the apartment that they shared complaining about her day -- while still wearing her winter coat and work backpack. Johnson interrupts her mid rant, hands her an engagement ring, and casually states that they should get married. Of course, she said yes!
