Whenever anyone asks us this question, we always say that our best friends are married to explain it. Kristen's best friend, Sami, tried to set John and Kristen up on a double date in 2016, but the night was not successful. Little did we know, she was just 3 years too early. We had been in the same friend circle for a few years (thanks to Sami), and in 2019, Kristen decided to try to play in John's DnD (Dungeons and Dragons) group to try something new. One day, we started talking over Facebook, and we have never stopped since then. Now, we have lived in 2 states together and have just moved back home to Cincinnati to be near friends and family.
John has always known how much Kristen has loved the Cincinnati Zoo. We went to the Festival of Lights, where they hang millions of Christmas lights around the zoo for this magical event each year. John created an excuse to leave before we were supposed to go to the zoo. While we were there, John called Kristen and asked her to meet her in a certain section of the zoo. Kristen realized what he was about to do, and realized she didn't have her nails done (oh no). After approaching where John was, there was a crowd gathered around him. John had created a custom LED light sign that said, "Kristen, will you marry me?" that was next to him on the ground. Kristen (of course) said, "Yes!" We happily went out to dinner with our families afterwards to celebrate. (The next day, Kristen got her nails done for pictures.)
