Our Story

From The Waiting Room to the Wedding Altar

The first time Emily saw John was in her junior year of college, when he sang I Won't Give Up by Jason Mraz for his first acapella concert as a freshman. She was in the front row and thought, wow, he has an incredible voice, it would be so sweet to have a partner with that kind of voice...oh how could she have known! ;) The first time John saw Emily was in Heathers The Musical when she first entered her junior year, although he only really knew who she was and what she looked like when he saw her in King Lear (but he had seen her in other productions by that point). John had auditioned for both shows and sadly didn't get cast in them. Discouraged, he didn't think he would audition for The Waiting Room by Lisa Loomer, but alas he was convinced. John got a role and was officially introduced to Emily on the first day of rehearsal. Throughout The Waiting Room the two became close. They shared a lot of talks, laughs and tears as the production went on and soon established pre-show and pre-scene rituals. They even started eating lunch every Monday along with some of the cast, crew and other friends. Not long after the production ended, Emily and John started talking. Emily was in the library doing her late night shift, when she told a friend of hers that she had a small crush on someone from the cast. After hearing her talk for a little while, her friend finally said "What do you have to lose? Worst case scenario, you gain a friend, you graduate and if you don't want to, you don't have to see or talk to him again. Best case scenario, you end up together!". And so she messaged him! He asked her out for a date after a few days of talking and the rest, as they say and as corny as it sounds, was history. Three and a half years later, here we are, engaged! We could not be any happier and excited to celebrate with all of friends and family!
