We met studying in the library at Georgetown University. Danie was getting her masters in Physiology & Biophysics and John was in his last year of medical school.
In D.C. on the rooftop of the Watergate Hotel at sunset. John swept Danie off her feet as they enjoyed drinks and walking along the Georgetown waterfront.
A trip to Hawaii to visit John during his month long rotation at Tripler Army Medical Center on Oahu. In between studying; they enjoyed morning sunrise hikes, surfing, snorkeling, and chasing the day into the gorgeous sunset colors.
We flew 4,839 miles across the country to the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii where John was stationed with the army at Tripler Army Medical Center to begin his medical residency. After landing he was sworn in and the following day graduated medical school from hotel balcony while we were quarantining. After two months of living in a hotel we cozied up in a 900 sqft. condo over looking Ala Moana Beach Park.
John and Danie spent a week traveling the Big Island, followed by 2 nights in Oahu. John scheduled a photo shoot at their favorite beach: the remote Ka'ena Point on the Northeast corner of Oahu. The majestic sunset colors were captured by Nikki Izak, a professional photographer and Danie's colleague from Lululemon. Nikki and her accomplices also performed a clandestine assembly of the proposal site consisting of roses and champagne. John planned the proposal for the zenith of sunset colors. At 6:37PM, John got down on one knee and Danie said yes! The proposal was followed by a surprise celebration hosted by Mary Solak with friends and family.
