Most of you know I moved to Tennessee around 15 years ago, but you may not know that I met John only about a year or so after I moved. We knew the same people and had mutual friends so it was inevitable that our paths would eventually cross. Throughout highschool, we continued to run into each other but never had a chance to connect. Time went on and graduation came so we continued on living separate lives. That all changed in the fall of 2018. 4 years after graduation, I was fresh out of a toxic relationship and wanted to be as far away from any new romantic relationships as possible…. and that included John. I carried a lot of trauma and did not want to take it out on anyone. I knew I needed to heal. John gave me the space I needed, but continued to show up for me as a friend. We spent weeks talking - about everything - about nothing. He made me laugh and he made me feel safe. Over a short time, we realized just how compatible we were and chose to give us a chance. 6 years, two apartments, one house, and a baby later, we still choose each other every day.
