Husk

Husk

76 Queen Street, Charleston, VA 29401
, 847-577-2500

Mention “food” and “Charleston” to just about anyone who has visited this town and you’re likely to be met with a third word: “Husk.” The restaurant’s James Beard Award-winning chef, Sean Brock, takes southern food so seriously that even the ingredients are sourced from below the Mason-Dixon line. The menu changes daily, but the setting—a 19th-century mansion with tables on the upstairs balcony—remains attractively the same.

But Charleston is so jam-packed with history—from Revolutionary War sites to the childhood home of a modern-day hero (Stephen Colbert grew up in the Holy City)—it’s worthwhile to get a little help from the pros. Consider Bulldog Tours for group walks or private strolls.

It made stars out of Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, propelling them into the international spotlight. Based on the Nicholas Sparks novel, the movie was filmed throughout the inspiring location of Charleston, South Carolina. While the stunning house Noah built for Allie is private property, you can still visit many of the sites featured in the beloved film. Welcome to The Notebook in Charleston!

The City of Charleston now owns the property. The Angel Oak Park is free and the tree should be added to any visit to Charleston, Kiawah or Seabrook Islands. In fact, if you are going to Kiawah Island or Seabrook Islands, you will likely drive within a few hundred feet of the Angel Oak Tree. Oh, and it's free to visit.
