On January 16, 2016, as the birthday party at a mutual friend's home come to an end. God brought 2 individuals together, no plan, no set up from friends, just 2 beautiful souls indulging in great conversation amongst a Caribbean social atmosphere. As Jodi-Ann sat on what seemed to be the only seat left in the home, to her surprise she bumps the arm of a gentleman, “excuse me she says” in her soft playful tone, with lingering Jamaican accent. “oh naw you good ma” in his southern country Texas tone. They both smiled while Jodi-Ann proceeded to explain that “blame it on the alcohol” and exhaustion as fault for their gentle human collision. “I’m Gran, nice to meet you” he says, The conversation of there offsprings and the sharing of phone photos went on through out the night, ending with career and growth discussion. The great conversation concluded with Gran telling Jodi-Ann, that “you know Comcast would love your personality” “you should send me your resume, here’s my email. He kept his promise, after a few laughs back in fourth between the 2 at her Jamaican formatted resume, and they both worked together to tailor her resume to what’s needed for Comcast, Jodi-Ann started to feel pretty good about meeting this gentleman. God had more in store for these two after almost a month of emails back and forth, Jodi's data on her phone started to run out (no Internet access at her new apartment). She sent one last email to tell Gran to text her for any more information if he needed to update her resume, Gran replied back via text this time, I’ll let you know if theres anything further needed. On February 14th Valentine’s Day, Jodi-Ann had a date plan with a friend of hers, but was stood up. Having her evening free up now, she decides to check in with Gran if her resume needed any more updates. Gran being the jokester he is, responded with “how come your texting me on Valentine’s Day?”. Jodi stated, "Well, I got stood up so, I might as well get my job search going" lol. Crazy thing is that Gran express how he got stood up also by his planed date, they both laughed and talked a little more about their “lucky” evening, and then jokingly stated we should just meet up and hang out since we are already dressed to impress, no sense in making these great outfits go to waste as both laughed, now a dull night turned into a beautiful evening. They messed up, so we lucked up!! The two, met up and spent the night painting the town, experiencing laughter, joy, a new peace, and the blossom of a new friendship. For those that know them, The rest is history, and for the ones that are just meeting them, their new chapter begins, To be continued…
