We met by chance, remember all those people who said it would happen when you least expected it, they were right! A group of my girlfriends and I had bought tickets to the rodeo for March 5, 2016 to see Cole Swindell. A fun Girl Day! Well we ended up with an extra ticket last minute and Amanda has a friend, Stephen, who needed a ticket to get his friend into the rodeo. Ended up Stephen's friend bailed and he came to hang with the ladies. Amanda had told me some things about "her person" Bubba throughout our friendship, but we had never met. I didn't know until that day that he was recently single. I apparently was also unaware of his attempts at flirting with me throughout the day, I just thought he was being friendly and nice. As the evening went on and I continued to be unaware of his motives, he stepped up his game and finally had to say, "I'm trying to ask you on a date!" Our first date was back to the rodeo to see Keith Urban and the rest is #SJ history!
It started out like a typical Sunday, Church and Iguana Joe's for lunch. Afterward we were heading to the house to do some work. As our friends and family know we survived the rains of Hurricane Harvey but our house did not. By the end of October we had walls and floors about to go in, but there was a ton to do. We got to the house, Stephen was being sweeter than normal, he was dropping things and we were goofing around. He wandered off and I threw on a T-shirt and tossed my hair into a bun on top my head when I hear him calling for me. I find him in our bedroom, next to his Pawpa's cabinet, he takes my hands, get's down on one knee.... honestly I don't know what he all said, but I remember hearing will you be my wife because by the time his knee hit the concrete I was crying loudly and shaking. I threw myself at him and said yes! Our engagement celebration included frozen custard for dinner and Game 5 of the World Series! Dreams really do come true y'all!
