Rich and Jocelyn "met" online and had low expectations after many failed attempts with online dating. They spoke online for 3 weeks before they finally decided to meet in person, and they had their first date at Three Monkeys Cafe in Philadelphia.

After years of semi long-distance dating, lots of schooling, career changes, and a pandemic, Rich finally planned to propose to Jocelyn in April 2022 at the closing of a house they were purchasing...and then the sale fell through. Rich hoped to come up with a back-up plan and then Jocelyn broke her (second) ankle in May. Rich decided to take Jocelyn to Cape May (their favorite vacation spot) for their 9-year anniversary in July, and proposed on the beach (with Jocelyn still in a walking boot and on one crutch lol).
