It all started with going to Alaska. So there I was, on the back of the Axelson’s boat, the Champion. Her father Steve and I had been dueling for Joanna’s honor for roughly 12 minutes. He had me. I was narrowly holding myself up, limbs quivering as Steve’s entire body weight was forcing me down into a fish hold. He looks down and says “do you give up?!” “NEVER!!!” adrenaline kicks through my veins, I force Steve off of me, lock him in a full Nelson and dangle him over the side of the boat. Calmly I say “you’ve been a formidable opponent and earned my utmost respect… with your blessing I’d like to marry your daughter.” I lift him back over the rail, he breathes a sigh of relief and slowly reaches out to shake my hand. He says “you’re the finest man I’ve ever laid eyes on and I couldn’t think of a better man for my daughter. You had me long ago, the moment I realized you could give my grandchildren something I never could… hair, long luscious hair… I just had to make sure you were willing to protect them too. We embrace for the first time.
