If you didn't already know, we are a Bumble success story! Although we matched on Bumble, I (Jill) didn't actually message Matt — these were the days when the girl had to message the guy first. However, I was thirsty for Instagram followers and put my handle in my Bumble bio. Matt looked me up and continued extending the match. Sadly, I never messaged him, so Matt was forced to throw me a follow on IG and slide into the DMs. Luckily I was into that, and we went on our first date in 2016 at American Whiskey in Manhattan.

Fast-forward several years — by this point, we were living together in Jersey City with our furchild, Macie. I had an engagement session I was shooting in Newport, RI scheduled for May of 2020, but we all know how that story goes. Luckily we were able to postpone until July (little did I know I was rescheduling my own proposal) and Matt gave me the surprise of my life when he proposed on a sailboat in the middle of Newport Harbor. We are both very thankful that I did not fall off the boat in shock.

In March of 2021, we closed on our first house together in Fanwood, NJ. If we were on the Netflix show Marriage or Mortgage, we clearly chose mortgage — but we are having a small wedding with our immediate family at Forty 1 North in Newport, RI on May 31, 2022 shot by my favorite photographer, Lauren Fair. One of our favorite parts of our wedding plan is the sunset cruise we will be taking after dinner on the sailboat we got engaged on in Newport Harbor. It will be such a meaningful way to end the night (and get some amazing photos).

We are SO excited to celebrate with you! Our celebration will be held at Porta, a rooftop bar in Jersey City, from 6:00pm – 10:00pm. Think all-you-can-eat pizza, open bar, and music! We will not be having another ceremony or any other wedding traditions, just a great time with our friends. Dress code is casual and whatever your heart desires. We are so looking forward to seeing you to celebrate the start of this next chapter of our lives!
