Vermont Cycling and Biking With 700-acres of Vermont countryside and waterfront, Basin Harbor is a biker’s paradise. Take an afternoon ride to the Champlain Bridge, or a shorter seven-mile cruise into downtown Vergennes for shopping or a pastry at Vergennes Laundry. If exploring the woods is more your style, pick up a trail map from the concierge and head out for a morning pedal. If you need a bike, Basin Harbor has rentals ranging from road bikes to mountain bikes. Pick your terrain and they will have the right two-wheeled adventurer for you. For Vermont biking routes, we suggest using Lake Champlain Bikeways. Their site has routes on both sides of the lake and provides detailed mile-by-mile directions. Lake Champlain Pontoon Boat & Motorboat Rentals One way to experience Lake Champlain is to rent a motorboat or pontoon boat from Basin Harbor. Basin Harbor has a fleet of motorboats and pontoon boats that are available for guests and the general public to rent. They also offer complimentary waterfront rentals for Basin Harbor guests. Lake Champlain Canoeing The Basin Harbor section of Lake Champlain is ideal for canoeing. Grab a paddle partner and head north or south to explore the shorelines of Addison County. Canoeing is great exercise and a wonderful way to have some fun on a hot day. You can also canoe across the lake to the lean-to for a picnic or a swim in the cove. Croquet & Badminton Enjoy some wine and wickets on a leisurely afternoon. Croquet is always set up somewhere on the property. It’s also a great lawn sport to add to any cocktail reception or outdoor event. Or, pick up a friendly game of badminton. Grab some racquets and have some fun.
