Jessica and Phillip's story begins during their sophomore year at UC Berkeley. They'd heard about each other - Jessica from her Babushka Sonya, and Phillip from Olga, his own Babushka's best friend from Russia. Sonya and Olga, who have been close friends in San Jose for the past 25+ years and tried playing matchmakers, had informed their "vnuki" (grandchildren) about a potential friend in their shared computer science classes. One night at a party, Jessica was descending a staircase when Phillip noticed her. Driven by the tale woven by Olga, he walked up and introduced himself. And so, their acquaintance began. A few months later, Phillip asked Jessica if she'd like to explore San Francisco with him. Together, they wandered through the city, visiting spots like Lands End, the Legion of Honor, and the Outer Richmond neighborhood Jessica grew up in. That day, they discovered a spark that would power their relationship for the rest of their lives. Fast-forwarding 6 years, they found themselves back at Lands End. But this time, Phillip had a question to ask. In the same place where their bond had deepened, he proposed, bringing their story full circle in a way that was profoundly meaningful to both of them. And now, they're eagerly looking forward to June 22, 2024. Jessica and Phillip are excited to share their joy and commitment with friends and family, celebrating a love that started with a shared family history, a class, and a chance meeting on a staircase.
