How We Met

April 2014

We met through the modern day miracle that is online dating! Although we started as strangers, we quickly came to find out that we had a few small world connections over the years. The first amazing connection is that about 20 years ago Nate and Stacy (Jessica's brother) used to work together at P.F. Chang's! Nate and Jessica even couch surfed on Stacy's couch, although at different times! Nate's sister Stacia also worked for P.F. Chang's, and when she left her position at the Carlsbad location it opened the door for Stacy to relocate to the San Diego area. Another random connection is the company that Nate used to work for, Suja Juice, was run by 3 siblings, one of which used to work for Jessica's cousin Jodi! We knew these small world connections must not be coincidental, there had to be some destiny involved.

The Proposal

7/4/19

The Proposal turned out to be a big surprise, which was great because Jessica loves surprises and Nate is terrible about keeping a surprise secret! The timing was perfect, Jessica's parents, Tom and Debbie, happened to be visiting Nate and Jessica at their new home in Idaho for the 4th of July. The evening was filled with great company, Bar-B-Q, beverages and since it's Idaho, fireworks!! Nate was setting up one of the last fireworks and asked for Jessica to help him out by holding the flashlight. After some debate, and thankfully just before her mom offered to help, Jessica went over to help Nate who was already on one knee with the 'firework'. Jessica was searching the ground for the firework with the flashlight when suddenly the light landed on something that was already sparkling, and in a bit of a haze, the words 'will you marry me?' were spoken. The surprise brought everyone to tears and ended in the best group hug! Truly a night to remember!
