How We Met-Jessica

Jessica's Story

A piece of me has always known that Layton was the one but hindsight is everything. When I think about mine and Layton’s “story”, I feel like I’m living in a romcom. The day Layton & I rekindled, the morning started out with a Bloody Mary with Cheetos, so the day was meant for greatness. When I realized he was in Nashville at the same time as me, my heart felt like it stopped (ask Alana, she was there) a few hours later when we were meeting up, I felt the biggest grin as I watched him walk in wearing denim on denim (matching his bff Peter). When he kissed me that night & told me “I think you & I would have worked out” that piece of me that knew he was the one lit up. After Alana & I got back to the rental at 3am I ran in & woke up Bridget to scream that we had kissed. Since then I have been finding more reasons to fall in love with him & us. Our story started out around 14 years ago when we met in middle school but didn't really come into play until high school when we started to like each other more than friends. Come to find out when we were 16 I was Layton’s first kiss. Although it did not work out in high school we went on to see each other randomly a few times & the same feeling would always come back when I would see him. As I have gotten to know Layton again as an adult I have found all these little things that make me feel without a doubt that God made us for each other. When he first met my brother, we found out quickly they were two peas in a pod, I have a photo of them wearing matching shorts & shoes walking down the street in sync with the same hand in their pocket. When he is doing anything he always whistles, which is something my dad has always done, when I first heard him do it I felt this big wave of comfort. 3 months into dating I texted Alana & told her I was going to marry Layton. I am so glad that piece of me was right & I get to spend the rest of my life with him.

How We Met-Layton

Layton's Story

Jessica and I have known each other since we were in middle school, but we really started to hang out together when we were in high school, I had a huge crush on her at the time but never had the courage to ask her out. After high school, we both went our separate ways in college and lost touch with each other, other than the occasional run in when we were both in our hometown. In April 2019 it had probably been close to five years since Jess and I had really talked or hung out with each other. It was Easter weekend, and I was in Nashville with some friends. Jess happened to be in Nashville with friends from grad school at the same time, and when we realized that, we made plans to meet up. One of my groomsmen asked if we were really going to spend our last night in Nashville hanging out with someone from our hometown, little did he know how excited I was to see her. We met up with Jess and her friends around 10PM, ended up staying out and closing down the bars at 3AM, and still neither of us were ready to go home. From that point, I knew I was going to marry her. I spent the following weekend helping her move out of her apartment in Muncie, and I think we spent every weekend together for the next five months until we moved to Ohio. I never could have imagined that a weekend trip to Nashville two and half years ago would change my life so much.
