Grant and Jessica first met in the summer of 2018. Grant hesitantly took his third travel nursing assignment in the small town of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Jessica signed up for her first travel assignment in this town as well. The two were on opposite shifts, Grant on days and Jessica on nights. It wasn't until they both attended a beer and cheese garden (could you get any more Wisconsin than that though?) where they first started hitting it off. Once the beer and cheese garden had ended they headed over to a local bar, "The Oxbow" where Grant bought Jessica a beer so she could play a game called Hammerschlagen. At this point, their travel assignments were coming to an end. Grant traveled to Peru for a vacation, but the two stayed in contact and talked on the phone as often as possible. As soon as Grant arrived back to the states he was scheduled to set out on his next travel assignment in the state of Washington. Grant invited Jessica to go on a 10 day trip across the country with him and for some crazy reason she agreed. They began dating on this trip and had to endure a long distance relationship for nearly a year prior to Grant moving back to Michigan for anesthesia school. Against all odds the two stayed in contact the whole year apart. Jessica visited Grant in Washington and then again in Alaska where they got to do some of their favorite things together. Once Grant started school at University of Michigan Flint and Jessica started school at University of Detroit Mercy, they were finally able to live a bit closer to one another, but now having to juggle less free time. In 2021, when on a trip to Gaitlinberg with Jessica and her family, Grant decided to pop the question. Since then, the two have been busy finishing anesthesia school. They bought a house, finally graduated, started working, and added a precious puppy, Winston, to the mix. The journey has not been a traditional one, but it has been one that has strengthened their relationship. If they can survive everything they have gone through, then their love can stand the test of time.
