Jesse and Colleen each heard about the other long before they had the chance to meet. Work had taken them both to Richmond, Virginia, where they learned bits and pieces about each other through a mutual friend who thought they belonged together. It took a few years for their paths to finally cross one Thursday at a trivia night. Jesse was already planning on moving back home to Portland within a month. Boxes were packed, the lease was cancelled, the moving pod was on its way. But 2 weeks after meeting, the pair had fallen in love, and the move back to Portland was cancelled! Jesse and Colleen stayed in Richmond for the next year growing closer together. Their bond bolstered by shared hatred for the humidity, the couple resolved to move to Portland together in 2023, driving cross-country (with a pit-stop in Chicago) to their new home. In May of 2024, 2 years after officially meeting, Jesse and Colleen took a drive down to the Redwoods in California. The plan was to propose in Trilium Falls, a park with a beautiful bridge and waterfall. But, after a never-ending parade of jabbering, hovering, clueless tourists, Jesse got a little grumpy and had to change plans to propose in Fern Canyon later that day. Fern Canyon turned out to be a gorgeous spot: fallen redwoods, rocks, and streams, bordered by walls of green ferns on either side... And you know the rest: he dropped to one knee, she said "yes!", they grabbed dinner at Pizza Hut, shared some wine out of plastic cups, and watched The Lost World: Jurassic Park together back at the hotel. Options were limited, but part of the fun! As Jesse and Colleen finally tie the knot, they can't wait to continue planning adventures together!
