Our Love Story

Burn the Ship 🔥

God has perfect timing; never early, never late. It takes a little patience and a whole lot of faith…but it is worth the wait. Once upon a time, in the bustling city of Greenville, a witty and free-spirited Gemini met a strong willed and tenacious Taurus. It was an original pairing of oil and water. Twenty years later, they would have their second first date in the same city, where they would eventually rediscover love, create a lifetime of memories, get engaged and defy astrological charts. Our journey here has been quiet and intentional, but not without significant pressure or pain. All seasons were necessary to the HERE harvest. As friends, we have seen each other through the best and worst of times. As a couple, we had to recreate ourselves, reimagine life, and rewrite the narrative of what our roles and relationship should be. In surrendering our plans to God, we are living the promise of Beauty for Ashes. We are imperfect, but together we are better. Everything about our wedding is reflective of our story and commitment to our union. Our hash tag is Burn the Ship. Simply, we are making a declaration to move forward. We stand in agreement that in all seasons, despite feelings and frustration, in the midst of the highs and the lows, we will move forward as One. Terracotta, Cedar Rose, and Cabernet are our wedding colors. Terracotta is symbolic of our individual growth journey- the process of pulling, pressing, and refining. It represents the season of stretching, and at times, darkness and defeat. Cedar Rose symbolizes the growth and unexpected blessings that bloomed out of the hard places. A reminder that rain and dormant seasons are necessary for strengthening roots and creating new beginnings. Cabernet is the new wine skins or blessing of our union. It is the 3rd cord of our marriage and God’s promise to never leave or forsake us. It is the reflection of shared power, purpose and greater pursuit. It is the sweetness of being seen and valued. It is the safety of peace, the warmth of favor and the fruit of 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7. The colors collectively are the backdrop of our life journey and a testament to the power of grace and mercy. They illustrate the manifestation of answered “hard” prayers and solidify that all things work together for our good. Just like every season, our colors were essential to executing a greater vision. We’ve lost count of how many times we have been asked, why a Sunday wedding? It’s our favorite day! Growing up, we both have vivid memories of Sundays at grandma’s house. It was the day our families gathered and for a few hours everything was all right in the world. Sundays were synonymous with good food, laughter, love, worship, and most of all, family. Looking back, Sundays shaped us into the people we are today. They gave us our roots and wings. Today, Sundays remain a source of power and a reminder of life’s purpose. It is our prayer that our wedding day will be reminiscent of the Sundays of our childhood, the promise of our Heavenly Father, the legacy and love of our beloved grandmothers, and a reminder that family, by blood or bond, is our greatest blessing. We are so excited to have you share in our journey. Stay tuned! God is up to something BIG. Let’s Grow. ❤️ “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him” 1 Corinthians 2:9.
