Our Story

How We Met (Jake's Version) Jake was living in Los Gatos, Ashley in Kingsburg. The year was 2017, and they had never met. They may have been thinking about each other, not specifically, but in poetic generalities of what they thought their future may have in store. Cut to Kingsburg High School's class of 2007's 10-year high school reunion, when everything began to change for Jake and Ashley. There they were, wondering why they decided to come, questioning if it was too early to leave, when it happened. Jake found himself facing Ashley, they locked eyes, she smiled at him, then Jake briskly turned away without a word. Feeling like he may have missed his chance with the prettiest girl at the reunion, he ventured outside to kick it with the boys around the fire...typical Jake. But then, something amazing happened, a true Kingsburg miracle. Ashley walked outside with a couple of her friends to enjoy the fire too. Jake took this as a sign, and introduced himself. From that point on Jake and Ashley never left eachother's side, hanging out all night around the fire, teasing one another, flirting, and enjoying the growing feeling that this could be something more than a "high school fling". As the night came to a close, Jake was feeling himself, so he decided he would shoot his shot as he and Ashley were leaving Smokehouse. He asked Ashley for her phone number as she proceeded to run into a very large plant, it was adorable and endearing, and Jake knew he wanted to see Ashley again. Ashley went home, Jake rode with Kim to Bobby's house, and after sending her too many text messages, they decided to get Starbucks the next day to test if what they were feeling was true. They hung out at Starbucks for ~4 hours, hanging out, teasing, flirting, and enjoying the strong feeling that this was definitely more than a fling. How we met (Ashley's Version) I remember getting a text from a friend asking if I'm going to the KHS reunion, I'll be honest, I wasn't sure about going. We all have Facebook now, I know what these people are up to. So we and I both decide to go, planned to meet there at 7pm. I put on my cutest dress and told myself "You've known all these guys since pre-school, you're not going to talk to them "like that"..." So I got dropped off at 7pm, earlier than my friend, kind of start to panic -- but again, I've known these people since pre-school. So I start doing what any Gemini woman would do, and I start talking to people I haven't seen in person for years. My friend gets there, we get some beers, we eat... then the fun starts but everyone is timid about dancing. Jerry comes on the mic and offers a free Panera card and drink tokens for the first ones to dance. My friend and I look at each other and hop on the dance floor to get the party started. (You're all welcome for that... we really just wanted the Panera card and drink tokens.) The night goes on, we're having a good time and we end up outside at a fire pit with people I haven't seen in years. Then there's one guy, Jake, one I don't remember from school. Pre-school, elementary, junior high or high school, and he catches my interest. For some reason Harry Potter gets brought up and Jake doesn't walk away. He keeps chatting with me about our Hogwarts houses, about how good Butterbeer is at Universal Studios and how if you have a wand, you can do magic in the windows. We keep talking, keep poking fun at each other and he doesn't think the conversation is weird. We all essentially get kicked out of Smokehouse and I call my ride. (Thanks Mom!) Right before leaving, Jake asks me for my phone number, while excitedly giving it to him, I ran in to a tree. We decide to hang out for coffee the next day. Hours seemed like mere minutes with him. We talked about our families, my homemade Paramore shoes and it felt like no time had passed. I left our first date so glad I went to the KHS reunion, because I knew something was different with this guy. :)
