How We Met

Cheap Champagne and Road Trips

Taylor and Jenny first met a new years party in college, where Taylor was the only one dressed in a sport coat (paisley, of all patterns) and button up shirt. He also brought his own rocks glass from home to sip his bourbon from. Needless to say, Jenny was not as impressed with Taylor as he was hoping she would be. After many feeble attempts at gaining Jenny's attention, a barter was made - a cheap bottle of champagne for a new years kiss. Jenny deemed this a reasonable trade, and the deal was sealed. Later on in the evening, numbers were exchanged, they parted ways... and didn't talk for over 2 years. Fast forward to 2016, Jenny and Taylor began talking again after passing one another in the hallways at UMD. That next summer, Taylor was invited to a wedding and he was looking to fill his +1 spot. Reminiscing over that eventful New Years party from a couple years ago, Taylor reached out to Jenny, asking her to be his date for a destination wedding (mind you...this was their first date). To both of their surprise... she agreed. A few weeks passed and they continued spending time together getting to know one another; as Jenny was about to leave for her final year of college they wondered if things would continue to move forward. Until one day, Taylor lovingly looked over at Jenny and asked "So uh. You wanna keep doing this?" And here we are, almost 7 years later.

The Proposal

07.30.2022

After living together for 4 years, raising Cooper, moving across the country...and their 5 year anniversary quickly approaching, Taylor started to realize that things between he and Jenny might be getting serious. For their 5 year anniversary, they decided to spend the day canoeing across the Hungry Horse reservoir to a remote island nestled between the Swan and Flathead mountain ranges. After arriving at the island, Jenny began to unload the canoe, noticing Taylor was acting particularly weird. She didn't think much of it, and continued unloading and playing with Cooper. After a little while, Taylor setup the camera to "take a family photo". Little did Jenny know... he setup to take a video of the proposal. Taylor was adorned in his finest bucket hat and velcro sandals, Jenny in her mismatched bikini. A "yeah, yes, yeah!!" was exclaimed by Jenny, and once again the deal was sealed. Cooper was thrilled to finally have a traditional family.
