Yes. However, it is NOT recommended. Flights get canceled randomly, and flying conditions from the island are not safe due to high winds. The best way to get to the island = fly into Kos, Greece, then take the 30 minute ferry boat ride to the island.
Most of the accommodations listed use booking.com. Airbnb is also commonly used for home/apartment rentals. This past summer we called and booked directly with the property, however, they required us to bank wire a large portion of the stay, plus the charge of the bank wire. In the end, it cost more than if we used booking.com.
If you are comfortable driving some type of vehicle, it is the best way to explore the island. From the port/Pothia, there is one main road that travels up the mountain and one road that travels down the mountain. In between the main roads are small, narrow streets which may sometimes require you to pull over or back up in order for two cars to get through. The roads are hilly and there are a couple sharp, steep areas that you will have to cautiously maneuver. There are no intersection lights, and just a few stop/yield signs on the entire island. If you decide you are not comfortable with any of this, taxis are available 24/7 and can take you anywhere on the island.
The weather in Kalymnos in July is definitely hot, but it is always breezy! It's rare to find any clouds in the blue sky, and almost unheard of to have any rain in the summer months.
Kalymnos is considered to be a very safe island, day or night, and the crime rate on the island is extremely low.
No, you cannot drink the water in Kalymnos. You can, however, brush your teeth with tap water because it meets EU standards.
