We're so excited to celebrate with you!

Matt moved to Miami in the summer of 2016 to begin his residency training as an orthopedic surgeon. That fall, the night of the UM/FSU football game, mutual friends Spencer and Caroline decided to set them up! Caroline overheard Matt asking Spencer about his "shark friend," and quickly jumped at the chance to coordinate a meetup. They watched the game at Batch in Brickell with a group of friends. When the game ended, the group decided to continue the night together at Gramps. After a great night with amazing friends, it didn't take long for the two of them to realize that this could be the start of something special.

Matt had it all figured out. He met with Jennah's parents to ask their permission, and they were thrilled to be the first to say YES! Knowing how important family is to Jennah, Matt wanted to wait and pop the question during their family trip to Spain in March 2020. The week before rendezvousing with her family, they were traveling through Ireland with Matt's brother, Chris, when COVID became a pandemic overnight. They cut their trip short and flew back to Miami. One evening while quarantined in their apartment, Matt suggested they go paddleboarding at sunset. It was a beautiful evening and they launched into the bay from the seawall right behind their condo. At the end of an hour paddle around Monument Island, they stopped to admire the epic sunset. Suddenly, Matt got UP on one knee (did we mention we were on the same paddleboard together?!) and... well you know the rest! Jennah said YES, they kissed, there was cheering, and Matt (having sutured the real ring onto his board shorts to prevent losing it in the bay) detached them. Our quarantine family came through with epic photography (even soliciting a drone) and brought Mako to be part of the celebration! It was perfect. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Miami!
