This forest surrounds Rudioso and if you’d like to take a trip to its main hiking trails they are about 45 minutes from town.

A cute old fashioned store that sells homemade pies, cider, jerky , and Knick knacks. This is a fun stop on your way up to Rudioso.

This is a cute art gallery that contains Native American art and pottery. We have bought pieces from this store and it is a great shop to see the culture from the area.

White Sands

Great wave-like dunes of gypsum sand have engulfed 275 square miles of desert, creating the world's largest gypsum dunefield. White sands is located in Alamogordo and is a fun site to see on the journey to Rudioso.

Located on the Mescalero reservation, this hotel is on a lake and has lots of amenities such as restaurants, a golf course, and outdoor activities.

Smokey Bear Historical Park

The park is a true celebration of Smokey’s legacy. At the visitor’s center, guests can find fascinating exhibits about forest health, wildfires, the science of fire ecology, and a historical look at wildfire prevention. This park is located in Lincoln, about 35 minutes from Rudioso.

Fort Stanton

Established in 1855, Fort Stanton may be one of the most intact 19th-century military forts in the country and is the best-preserved fort in New Mexico. Found just outside the historic town of Lincoln and surrounded by the Lincoln National Forest, the 240-acre site is best known for its roles in the Indian Wars and the Civil War.

This is an awesome little restaurant for a quick lunch, they only have soups and sandwiches but are well worth the taste.

Built in 1873 this steakhouse still has its historical look to it. This restaurant has a built in store and is a neat find. This restaurant is located in Lincoln about 30 minutes from Rudioso.
