Jenna and Neil met in biochemistry class, during junior year of their undergrad at the University of Akron. Jenna and Neil were both biology majors, but this was the first class they sat close by each other and realized they had many mutual friends. Neil's pre-med fraternity were all going on a ski trip together, and invited Jenna to come after class one day. It was on the ski slopes and lifts that Jenna and Neil first started really talking and getting to know each other. This was when they both realized how much they liked each other - it was easy, natural, and fun! They then went on to go on hikes, study together, try out new restaurants and coffee shops, and soon enough, Neil asked Jenna to be his girlfriend!

Neil's sister Sharon invited Neil and Jenna to "go to dinner at a fancy restaurant with her and her husband" one Saturday. Little did Jenna know, this was all a cover up for one of the best nights of her life! On their way to dinner, Sharon called Neil saying their reservation got delayed, and asked if they could meet at edgewater park to walk around while they waited. Of course, Jenna proceeded to tell Neil she didn't want to do that because it was too cold and she was in a dress! But Neil told her it would be quick and she agreed, obviously having no idea what was coming. On their walk by edgewater, they came to a beautiful willow tree. Neil asked Sharon to take a photo of him and Jenna in front of it. They posed for the picture and then Neil turned to Jenna and got down on one knee! Neil's biggest goal for his proposal was for it to be a surprise - and Jenna sure was shocked! In the best way :) Without hesitation, she said yes!
