Back Where It All Began

We met the modern, unconventional way, through a dating app. After a few days of messaging nonstop back and forth, Anthony finally gained the courage to ask me out on a first date. Unfortunately, I would not agree to a first date without first meeting in person. Choosing the place and the time for their first meeting (January 3, 2019), it wasn't an immediate spark. After a few minutes of decent, basic conversation, silence surrounded us. Just when this seemed to be the deciding factor that a first date was not going to happen, I randomly asked if Anthony would like to walk around Brighton. Walking through the chilly January day, somehow turned the meeting around and it was hard not to find something to talk about. Starting the walk downtown through the Millpond and to Meijers just to loop back and find ourselves back at the coffeehouse to continue the conversation, while warming up. Needless to say we went on our first date January 6, 2019 and it couldn't have been more wonderful. Fast forward five years later... While coming home after work, we couldn't decide what to do on a Friday night. Trying to not waste the night away watching movies, Anthony concluded that he was just going to go take a shower and figure something out. After awhile, he comes out dressed up nicely with his hair done informing me that it was time to go. Getting a little suspicious, I tried to see if I would spot the ring box in his pockets but was unsuccessful. Anthony drove us to downtown Brighton, where we walked through the millpond, reminiscing on the past five years and how far we've come since that first day back in January of 2019. Still growing suspicious, I began to notice whenever Anthony would slightly leave my side, not letting him out of my sight. It wasn't until the distraction of ducks which gave Anthony enough time to get set up for the big ask. Wanting only to feed the ducks and forgetting how suspicious Anthony had been acting, I was reluctant to join Anthony on a dock out in the Mill Pond. But he eventually made me forget all about the ducks, when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. With tears and smiles, it was an easy yes. We are excited to continue this story with all our friends and family around to watch us commit our lives to one another.
