Katie and Jenna met after they each swiped right on the dating app, Bumble. Jenna unfortunately missed her 24-hour window to chat with Katie through the app, but Katie decided to pay $10 to extend her time (thank God for that!). After a few quick messages (including a Pennywise GIF), they planned a date to meet up at Beer Porch (a St John's staple) but Katie, nerves setting in, canceled, so she asked to reschedule. Feeling rejected, Jenna said "Sure" but didn't follow up. A few days later, Katie reached out again to resume plans. Jenna responded saying she wasn't sure she was ready to date again (coming from a long-term tumultuous relationship months prior). Saddened, Katie waited another month before reaching out again. When she did, she asked Jenna if she remembered her. Little did Katie know, Jenna still had Katie saved in her phone. Impressed by Katie's persistence, she cracked the door back open. Jenna explained she would be in California another month, before moving to Oregon, and that they should wait to talk then. Disappointed, but understanding, Katie agreed. Hours later, Jenna couldn't hold up her end of the bargain. She then sent Katie a photo of her kitten. From there on out, they never stopped talking. After a full month of texts and calls, they FINALLY met in person days after Jenna officially moved to Portland, OR. Katie planned a date at Cornell Farms, a brunch spot and plant nursery. Conversation flowed, and natural chemistry and attraction were apparent. They visited the nursery after breakfast and Katie bought Jenna a plant ('Katie plant'). They didn't become official girlfriends for another month, but later decided the day they met was their true anniversary (November 16th, 2019). Because, let's be real, they were together the moment they met.
