Garden Party Formal - aka cocktail attire that's comfortable in an outdoor setting. Slacks and button-up shirts (tie/jacket optional), colorful and comfortable dresses, dressy jumpsuits. New Orleans can get hot and humid in May so plan for lighter, more breathable fabrics to stay comfortable. The reception has indoor and outdoor space with the indoors being comfortably air conditioned.
A cocktail-style wedding reception offers a more informal and interactive approach to celebrating a wedding. Unlike a traditional seated dinner, guests at a cocktail-style reception enjoy a diverse array of hors d'oeuvres and small bites served throughout the evening. One distinctive feature is the absence of formal or assigned seating, creating a dynamic and social atmosphere. Attendees are encouraged to explore different food stations, mingle freely, and choose any available seating while enjoying the variety of food offered throughout the celebration. There will be ample seating available for anyone and everyone to sit down at any point in the night.
It is a parade that signifies the beginning of a new life together. The newlyweds lead the procession, umbrellas in hand, while the wedding party and guests follow the band with handkerchiefs. Our second line will bring the wedding guests and bridal party from the ceremony to the reception, about a 10 minute walk from the Tea Room Gardens, through a portion of the zoo, to the Tea Room Entrance. The walk will be entirely paved.
