Kiko and I first met in middle school in Mrs. Chan's science class. We sat next to each other, and it was love at first sight (Kiko denies this, but it's true, lol). The "only thing" Kiko remembers about me during this time is that I was the weird girl who wrote down her outfits so I wouldn't wear the same thing twice in one week. Fast-forward to high school, and we were reunited in Mr. Hwang's BioMed class. This is when Kiko's love and support really started to shine through (he let me copy his homework because I had no idea what I was doing in a BioMed class!) Seems to me that there has been a lot of CHEMISTRY between us since the very beginning ;) Since we started dating in 2013, we've been inseparable. We've been lucky enough to have each other's support as we've transitioned from young kids to full-blown adults; many of you have witnessed this first hand. It's crazy to think that when I met Kiko's family, I was only 17; now I'm 25 and getting ready to marry my best friend. Growing up, I learned that life is full of so many unknowns, but I've also realized that Kiko is the one for sure thing in my life. Our partnership has helped us both grow into successful and happy adults. What started as an innocent high school relationship has turned into a soon-to-be lifelong, loving marriage! We've grown from teenagers to adults and have experienced every milestone so far with one another. The love and support of our family and friends are so important to us, especially as we embark on our latest adventure as husband and wife! -Jen
If it were up to Jen, we would've been married by the time we turned 18 (lol, but no, really). However, we agreed it would be best to wait until we finished our studies and settled into our careers. We decided we'd take the next step once Jen officially finished her master's. Fast-forward to the end of 2020 and her graduation quickly approaching; the time had finally come. The only question was, how would I do it? After tons of brainstorming and planning with each of our families, I came up with the perfect plan. I told Jen we should do a Christmas photoshoot in Big Bear since we never got around to doing a Halloween shoot we planned. So, on December 12th, we headed to our favorite place to take pictures with Bety, Paty, and Marcel before sunset. It started to sprinkle as we drove there, and I thought my plan would be ruined. Thankfully the rain held up the rest of the evening. When we arrived, a picnic was set up and a photographer was waiting. As we got closer and the scene came into focus, we all yelled, "Surprise!" At that moment, Jen knew I was going to propose. Or so she thought! I whispered that I had planned it as her graduation present, and her dream of me proposing was crushed. The picnic came with a "complimentary" photoshoot, and as Jen was taking her pictures, I crept up behind her and dropped to one knee. And well, you know the rest...
