Here’s the sparknotes version. A nice Jewish boy and a nice Jewish girl were minding their business in the big apple not necessarily looking for love. In the background, our parents were doing relationship research in the form of talking to every member of the tribe they could to figure out how to acquire a Jewish soulmate for their child. Both parents ultimately arrived at the same answer: JDate. But with Jen & Adam just enjoying life in Manhattan (mind you they were only 24 & 25 years old, respectively), the Waldman’s & Geller’s needed some leverage. That’s when each set of parents called their kid and said something to the effect of “so & so’s son or daughter met the nicest, most attractive Jewish guy/girl on JDate and now they’re married and living happily ever after. Just give it a try, we’ll pay for 6 months.” You call it crazy Jewish parents, they call it kismet. Anyway, the accounts were set up on the app and Jen, who had pretty much resigned herself to the fact that NYC was solely filled with frogs and devoid of princes, was swiping on JDate one evening and received a message from an Adam Geller. He wrote one word which kicked off the conversation which led to a 5 hour first date and ultimately to an upcoming marriage. Adam Geller, you had me at ‘Shalom’.
