Come in for a beer and a giant pretzel with beer cheese and you won't be disappointed! They also offer brewery tours for those of you who are into that kind of thing. Hot tip: If you decide to order the pretzel and beer cheese, request to have the pretzel chopped. It's a game-changer!
A Chico landmark, the Bear is our go-to spot for a cold beer and a cheeseburger.
The Rawbar is our favorite sushi spot! Try the Gilroy Roll or the Sweet Chili Philly Roll, and if you're a oyster fan, try the oyster shooters! Hot tip: If you end up here later in the evening and you sit at the bar, offer to order an oyster shooter for your server. This restaurant can get crazy busy and they always show their appreciation!
Our favorite breakfast spot, Nash's has an excellent selection of breakfast items. Jena highly recommends getting the shredded zucchini as your side order, and seeing how she feels about potatoes, this is a high compliment! Hot tip: Matt says get the breakfast tacos, and if you're fighting a hangover at any point, we can both vouch for the red beer to help pull you out.
If you're a coffee drinker, try out Bidwell Perk. It's a great spot to sit and enjoy a cup, with or without a pastry or breakfast sandwich. Jena's go-to is the Lavender Vanilla Latte and Matt goes for the Honey Cream Latte.
Lower Bidwell Park is great for a leisurely stroll. The paths are paved, the stream is clear, and the shade from the trees makes it truly feel like paradise.
If you're looking for a good hike or bike ride, we suggest heading to Upper Bidwell Park. This area is a fantastic example of Northern CA, and at the end of OCtober, it won't be too hot to explore!
Coffee for coffee people! Right next door to Farmer’s Brewing, this spot is for coffee connoisseurs!
Best Michelada (red beer) in town! We recommend getting this with the Valle Mexican Lager and a half-rimmed glass. Also, the pretzels and beer cheese here? Second only to Sierra Nevada.
Reservations highly recommended. A stellar Italian spot in Chico. We can recommend the Carbonara and the Tiramisu. (Can you tell this is a Jena favorite?)
The spot we used for some of our engagement photos! They have pour-your-own beer, wine, ciders, and seltzers, as well as an outdoor bar! We highly recommend the Special Pepperoni pizza, it's one of our favorites.
