Located in the heart of the main strip right off the beach sits Casablanca Cafe. Built in 1927, Casa Blanca was the first home constructed on Fort Lauderdale Beach and is its oldest remaining structure. Whether you visit for breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour, or dessert, we recommend grabbing a table outside to enjoy the weather and take in the view overlooking the water. Be sure to also head inside to check out the original working fireplace, spiral staircase, and more of the preserved story of this historical architectural Spanish and Middle Eastern inspired property.
Coconuts was a recommendation from a local resident whom we met one afternoon while walking the beach. At this inviting and relaxing water-side restaurant, and just a short walk from the weekend's festivities, be sure to take a seat outside on the outdoor patio overlooking the waterfront. We recommend the Scoobies, Coconut Shrimp, Crab Claws, Oysters, and the Key Lime Pie.
Fort Lauderdale Beach is known for its sugary sand and crystal-clear water. The quietude and laid-back atmosphere lends itself to its charm, but there is still no shortage of activities with its unique blend of nature and urbanity. From sunbathing or relaxing under an umbrella, to swimming in the water or jet skiing and kitesurfing, to eating and shopping, Fort Lauderdale Beach has it all!
We stumbled across Primanti Bros., the cash only 24-hour local gem, while strolling the beach one afternoon. The "let's just stop in for a slice" quickly turned into sitting down at the counter and talking with the workers and nearby residents, enjoying the best that this Pittsburgh transport from 1970 has to offer (where they originally opened in 1933). We recommend the Pitts-Burger and a slice of that from-scratch pizza!
Japanese-Korean Fusion restaurant and bar located at Conrad Fort Lauderdale. Takato has one of the best outdoor patios with ocean views in the city, along with some of the most consistently flavorful and original dishes. We recommend the Short Rib Kimchi Taco, Duck Bao Bun, Angry Chicken, and the Sushi Ice Cream!
A short drive from the beach you will find Top Hat Delicatessen. One of our favorite places to frequent when in town, Top Hat serves authentic East-coast items you would find in the best New York deli, along with amazing service, a laid-back atmosphere, and friendly people. We recommend the Nova Lox Sandwich, Reuben, and Matzo Ball Soup (even though it isn't as good as Mimi's!).
Yo Mama's Ice Cream and Pops Corn was another fortuitous discovery that quickly established itself as another go-to for snacks while in the area. It is located right off the beach and a short walk from the weekend's festivities. We recommend the cheddar and caramel popcorn, as well as the red velvet, chocolate chip, and oatmeal raisin cookies. The ice cream ain't bad, either!
