Question

DO I NEED A PASSPORT TO TRAVEL TO JAMACIA?

Answer

Yes! Also make sure to check the expiration date. The passport or other travel document must be valid for at least six (6) months from the intended date of travel.

Question

DO I NEED A VISA?

Answer

If you are a U.S. citizen, you do NOT need a visa. Americans aren't required a visa to enter Jamaica. Jamaica provides visa-free entry for all American citizens. American citizens can stay up to 30 days without a business visa and 180 days without a tourist visa.

Question

JAMAICA TRAVEL POLICIES?

Answer

Jamaica and the US both have travel safety policies in place for traveling internationally. These policies have been ever-changing and some policies may change by the time of your departure to Jamaica. Though some of these policies may change before December 2024, it is best to plan on the current policies today to still be in place when you travel.

Question

ARE KIDS INVITED?

Answer

We love your kids—we really do. But we want our wedding to be your weekend off if possible. Adults are encouraged due to limited guest capacity. However, this is a family-friendly resort with separate sections/pools for adults and families. During the wedding reception, kids will have a separate play area to minimize disruption. Please message us if you will be bringing your tender ones along.

Question

SHOULD I RENT A CAR?

Answer

In short - we do not recommend driving. Driving in Jamaica requires adapting to the local driving rules and habits. Driving in Jamaica is on the left side of the road (opposite of the U.S). This requires a certain level of adaptation and dexterity. There are many unspoken rules of the road that can be daunting to someone who has never driven in Jamaica. Please drive at your own risk, if you decide to.

Question

HOW DOES CURRENCY/MONEY WORK IN JAMAICA?

Answer

Most major credit cards are accepted at larger establishments. However, cash will be needed for parts of your trip. Although you can use USD at a lower rate, we encourage you to exchange cash prior to landing in Jamaica. This can be done at your local bank or credit union in the United States. Should you need to transfer money while in Jamaica, you can visit the local Western Union or other money transfer locations. Also, please note, many Jamaican prices at the local market and in the taxi are negotiable. So feel VERY comfortable with talking prices down if you feel they are unfair.

Question

CURRENCY?

Answer

Jamaica’s currency is the Jamaican Dollar, although the USD is widely accepted, and most restaurants/bars/shops/excursion companies accept credit cards. We recommend exchanging currency with your local bank before arriving in Jamaica, as you will get the the best value using their dollar compared to ours. Do NOT exchange money at the Montego Bay Airport as they do not offer competitive exchange rates.

Question

THINGS TO PACK FOR JAMAICA

Answer

- PASSPORT - Water shoes - Sunscreen - Bug spray and bug bite spray - Bug Spray repelling wristbands - Lip balm with SPF - Aloe Vera - Goggles - Motion sickness meds (if needed for boating) - Portable water bottle - Waterproof bag or pouch - Camera with charging cords - Cash - Attire for the wedding

Question

I HAVE A FOOD ALLERGY, CAN I MAKE A SPECIAL REQUEST?

Answer

Yes, please email us at ido@weddingsbychlomo.com by October 1, 2024.

Question

CAN I BRING A DATE?

Answer

If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes, if not, we would prefer it if it was just you.

Question

WHAT’S THE DRESS CODE?

Answer

There are different dress codes for each activity. The recommended clothing types are listed below each activity under the "Schedule" tab on our wedding website.

Question

WILL THE CEREMONY AND RECEPTION BE INBDOOR OR OUTDOORS?

Answer

The ceremony and reception will take place on the grounds of Azul Beach Resort. Plan to be outdoors for the majority of the festivities.

Question

WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE AT THE CEREMONY?

Answer

The Ceremony begins at 4:00 pm. It is suggested to arrive no later than 3:30 pm.

Question

DO YOU HAVE ANY HOTEL RECOMMENDATIONS? WHERE DO YOU RECOMMEND I STAY?

Answer

Yes. Please reference the Travel tab on our wedding website for accommodation information.

Question

DO I HAVE TO STAY AT AZUL NEGRIL?

Answer

Staying at the Azul Negril Resort isn't mandatory; however, guests not staying at the hotel will be charged a day pass fee, will only be allowed on the grounds 30 minutes before the wedding, and will have to leave after the reception. Therefore, we do recommend our guests stay at the resort at least until the day after the wedding.

Question

HOW WILL WE COMMUNICATE ONCE WE ARE ON THE ISLAND?

Answer

All T-Mobile plans now include free texting and internet in Jamaica and many other countries, so if you have T-Mobile, you are good to go. If you don't have T-Mobile, I would recommend you download the free app called WhatsApp (if you don't already have it) and do it before you get there. WiFi is included with your hotel stay at Azul, and WhatsApp uses the internet to call and send messages, so it's perfect and will allow us to keep in touch when necessary as it is a big resort.

Question

DO OFF RESORT GUESTS NEED TO ENSURE THEY HAVE AN ID?

Answer

Yes, all off resort adults need to bring a valid ID with them. Your names will all be listed at the gate to allow entrance on the property and the front desk will need an ID to give you armbands.

Question

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I CANNOT MAKE IT?

Answer

You will be missed! If you cannot make it to the wedding, please let use know ASAP and RSVP "no" so that we can plan accordingly.
