We met at Flying Ace Farm in Lovettsville, Virginia on April 17, 2021. An evening and meeting that God had orchestrated perfectly. We were both enjoying a relaxing day with friends when Jay ran into his friend, John. John and Jay had taught swim lessons together for a few summers at a local pool. John happened to be married to one of Melissa's best friends, Ashlynn. Cue Melissa. Jay and John were playing a friendly game of foosball and Melissa saw her opportunity to make the first move. She asked if she could be John's partner and then another one of Melissa's friends, Katie, had joined the game as Jay's partner. Let the games begin. We were both dominating the table when Katie decided the best player needed to be determined. Cue Jay's turn to make a move. He suggested a wager on the game. A wager which we both decided to allow our friends to determine. Jay waited eagerly, hoping Katie and John would suggest a phone number exchange. To Jay's excitement, they announced that the loser had to exchange their number with the winner. Now, Jay couldn't lose. The game concluded with a win for Jay and the two exchanging phone numbers. The night ended with games, conversation, and a curiosity of one another that God used to begin our journey.
After a not-so-sneaky first try, Jay surprised me on a Wednesday night after school. While I thought we were just going out for dinner, instead I was greeted with a candlelit, rose petal path in Jay's townhouse. Nice job Jay (and Ashlynn...and Katie...and John)! At the end of the path was a foosball table, hinting at the first night we had met one another. After Jay talked for a normal Jay length (aka a long time people), he got down on one knee and asked the big question. To which I replied, "No...Wait No...WAIT YES!". Oops! I made sure to clarify, yes I want to marry you!! And it was the best choice I could've made. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Winchester!
