How We Met

04/11/2021

Jason and Savannah met through mutual friends who were married in August 2021. They were both in the wedding party (Jason a groomsman and Savannah a bridesmaid) and would be walking in together for the ceremony. Jason was very impatient and decided that waiting until August to meet Savannah would not suffice. He sent a quirky message to Savannah through Facebook and they both quickly knew there was a mutual attraction. As they say, the rest is history!

The Proposal

08/21/2022

Jason planned a weekend trip to Charleston, SC, after Savannah's breast cancer diagnosis. They met up with friends for sightseeing and fun. Saturday morning went off without a hitch, and the group enjoyed delicious food and warm weather. At dinner, Savannah became suddenly ill with a migraine and, as the rest of the group finished dinner, waited in the car to go back to the hotel. Once back at the hotel, Savannah remained in bed for the next several hours as the migraine symptoms were horrid. During this time, Jason navigated around Charleston for medication, Gatorade, and crackers. He watched TV in the hotel room, next to the woman that he had planned to propose to that very evening. The next morning, Savannah felt much better. Jason retrieved a luggage cart from the hotel lobby and brought it to the room so that they could begin the checkout process. As Savannah was helping load the cart, Jason thought Savannah had spotted the ring box. They walked together down the long hallway to the elevator - Jason stating that he knew Savannah had seen it, Savannah questioning what she was supposed to have seen. The elevator doors opened, and the two entered, along with the luggage cart. As the doors closed, Jason grabbed something from his open bag. "Just like an elevator, our life will have many ups and downs, but if we stick together, the doors will always open." Jason asked Savannah to marry him and .... of course, she said YES!

Private Nuptials

09/08/2024

While Jason was in the hospital over the spring and summer of 2024, we made the decision to postpone our wedding celebration planned for September 6, 2024, to focus on Jason's healing and health. Our love for one another only grew stronger during that time, so the day that he was released from rehab to come home, we picked up the documents needed for a legal marriage on our way home. From there we had 60 days to get legally married. We exchanged vows in a private ceremony on September 8, 2024. While the weather was beautiful and our hearts felt more complete, we did miss the love and celebration of having our close friends and family share in our special day, so we decided to have a "redo" in 2025 once Jason had progressed in his healing and was better able to experience all of the fun!
