Every year, Harvard and Yale compete against each other in a football game and accompanying weekend of festivities known as Harvard-Yale. Shayne and Jasmine met each other one fateful day on November 19, 2016 at the Harvard-Yale tailgate. Jasmine and Shayne were both in the first years of their PhD programs at Harvard and Yale. They found out they had a lot in common: being from NYC, loving hip hop and Black culture, AND wanting to see each other again. They reunited during winter break in NYC where they went on dates to museums, walked hand-in-hand through Central Park, and shared their first kiss at Bryant Park. Despite living in different states at the time, Jasmine and Shayne traveled regularly to see each other (shoutout to Megabus lol) and the rest is history.
